To clarify, the reason for euthanasia was due to the extensive damage to the wing, not the wound. I'm guessing that a sea lion grabbed that side of the pelican in its mouth causing the wound but also crushing the wing in the process. What my photos do not show, and what the wildlife staff explained, is that the bones of the left wing were damaged beyond repair.Deannanoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5961134192769682671.post-72530481422194751282012-09-03T21:09:52.100-07:002012-09-03T21:09:52.100-07:00Pelicans are amazingly resilient. This pelican's wound is relatively small and more importantly fresh.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5961134192769682671.post-79529253159894454212012-09-03T08:38:39.612-07:002012-09-03T08:38:39.612-07:00Is there signage along the waterfront to educate h...Is there signage along the waterfront to educate humans about the misery they can cause when they feed wildlife? My husband and I took a field rescue seminar with Wild Rescue and hope to be back in California soon, using our skills. In the interim, know that all of your efforts are appreciated by those of us who stay tuned to your efforts and your accomplishments.ingridhttp://www.thefreequark.comnoreply@blogger.com
